Truly Social Monthly Recap: June 2019 Edition

It’s been a slow descent into the summery sunny days but we’ve made it over here on the west coast. School is officially OUT: so break out the sunscreen, graphic tees, and prepare for some long summery nights of fun ahead! This month we saw the latest series of Black Mirror on Netflix, Harry Potterheads got a mobile game similar to Pokemon GO called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and nostalgia is hitting cinemas all over the world with Toy Story 4, Child’s Play, and Aladdin.

Draw a Stickman AR available now on iOS

Our darling project Draw A Stickman AR is now available for the first time outside of Canada on iOS. It’s so easy (and FUN!) to get started and we’re really excited to see what the community is going to make with their imaginations.

Designed for all-ages, it’s an experience that anyone can enjoy. (And that would be Chip, drawn by our Community Valkyrie’s BFF.) If you like it, please consider giving us a short review on the App Store!

Gold Mania! is taking a turn (for the extreme!)

We have been engaging with our passionate Gold Mania! players and they told us… They LOVE our game show approach. We love it too, it’s awesome to be a part of something bigger AND being able to take it anywhere you go.

So, we’re taking the game show approach and cranking it up to get wacky. We’re working on new games, new characters, and NEW PRIZES. Our host Orelando is prepping himself for the new gaggle of friends he’ll have in-game!

We can’t wait to tell you more about it, but we’ll be ready to reveal some of the new things we’re working on at the studio. If you’re looking for the latest and greatest on our crazy game show game, make sure you’re following our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for some sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes looks from our art and dev team.

Fun Palace: Carnival of Mixed Reality

We love all things social and all things immersive here at Truly Social Games, so when we found out our neighbours over at Centre For Digital Media were doing an entire festival around shared augmented reality experiences, we were stoked to sponsor and support the event, and WOW! What a show.

Dr. Patrick Pennefather put together one of the most unique mixed reality events Vancouver has seen. It was also so great to see some familiar faces with some of the talented co-op students we worked with during their project term.

Congrats to new beginnings

Our Vancouver neighbours Slap Happy Cartoons and The Gaming Stadium have some big news: Slap Happy has expanded their studio and they hosted a fantastic open house for the community – we’ll be sure to take notes because they really know how to throw a party!

So proud of being in the region where Canada’s very first esports arena is opening its doors. Over the long weekend, players from the community now have a local hub for all their favourite competitive games – not just to play, but to meet new friends, and also The Gaming Stadium is introducing training in all things esports too. Looking forward to what’s to come for the City of Vancouver.
